To develop truly sustainable products, you must be able to assess which design solu- tion is environmentally preferable. Often the environmental load is related to simple indicators such as material mass, energy use, and transport volume. Once you have identified your 'hotspots' you can subsequently develop specific guidelines and evaluate different alternatives.
